Foreign Minister Valtonen to visit Türkiye

Finnish Minister for Foreign Affairs Elina Valtonen will travel to Türkiye in the delegation of President of the Republic Alexander Stubb on 1–2 October.

During her visit to Türkiye, Foreign Minister Valtonen will participate in a panel discussion at the Martti Ahtisaari Legacy Seminar and meet the Turkish Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan in Ankara. The ministers will discuss bilateral relations between Finland and Türkiye, the current security policy situation and matters related to the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE). From Ankara, Foreign Minister Valtonen will continue to Istanbul, where she will meet representatives of Finnish companies operating in Türkiye.

“Türkiye has an important role in the current global political situation. Finland and Türkiye have co-chaired the UN Group of Friends of Mediation, which was established in 2010. The growing complexity of conflicts makes international cooperation even more important in areas such as mediation,” Minister Valtonen says.
