Finland opens Consulate General in Guangzhou

Finland will open a new Consulate General in the People's Republic of China, in Guangzhou city, Guangdong province, in early 2005. The opening was agreed upon by an exchange of notes with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China. The new Consulate General covers the provinces of Guangdong, Fujian, and Hainan and the autonomous region of Guangxi. The amendments made by the President of the Republic of Finland to the decree regarding the opening of the Consulate General will come into force on 1 November 2004. Arrangements regarding the opening of the Consulate will be finalised by the end of this year.
