Certificate of existence

A certificate indicating that an individual is alive can be issued, e.g. for the purpose of withdrawing retirement funds or carrying out an estate inventory, based on evidence presented. The person for whom the certificate of life is to be issued must present him- or herself at the Mission in person.

A certificate of living (affidavit) may be obtained from a U.S. Notary Public.

If the party requesting the certificate demands that it is issued by a Finnish diplomatic mission, he/she must apply for it in person at the Mission or at the Honorary Consulate.

The certificate is a notarial service subject to a fee in accordance with the service fees. In order to obtain the certificate, you must book an appointment at the Mission or at the Honorary Consulate.
