Finland and the U.S.

The relationship between Finland and the United States dates back to the 17th century when the first Finnish immigrants arrived in the U.S. The countries established diplomatic relations in 1919, after Finland gained independence in 1917. The ties between the two nations were further strengthened in 2023 when Finland joined NATO and signed a bilateral defense cooperation agreement with the United States.
