Finland and the United States are partners in investment, innovation and trade
The Ministry for Foreign Affairs has issued a new brochure Finland and the United States – Partners in Investment, Innovation and Trade that focuses on the broad economic relations between Finland and the United States. The brochure highlights the benefits from Finnish foreign direct investment and introduces a group of seven Finnish companies that run successful operations in the United States.

Centennial Story of Finland Part 10: Finland Takes Its Place in Globalized World 1997–2007
After joining the European Union, Finland placed a lot of emphasis on the international role of the Union, believing that the EU is a predominant stabilizing force in Europe, politically and economically. Finns discussed joining NATO, but the majority felt that the security situation of the country was good, and no security deficit existed. It was more important that the enlargement of the EU and NATO to the Baltic States and countries in Eastern Central Europe would proceed.

Company Profile: Nokian Tyres Builds New Factory in Tennessee
Nokian Tyres manufactures tires for passenger cars and bigger vehicles. The company was the first manufacturer in the world to produce winter tires. They are still known especially for their products suitable for cold and snowy conditions. Building the company's new factory in Dayton, Tennessee, starts next year.

An Appreciation of Finland – On 100 Years of Independence
James Ford Cooper worked at the U.S. Embassy in Helsinki during the Cold War. He served in 1976–1979 as Political Counselor and in 1984–1986 as Deputy Chief of Mission. During this time he developed tremendous admiration, respect and deep affection for the Finnish nation and people. The embassy is delighted to publish Mr. Cooper’s essay that he has written in honor of Finland’s centennial.
