Finland and Washington state to partner on transport and technology

Minister of Transport and Communications of Finland, Timo Harakka, and Lieutenant Governor of Washington state, Denny Heck, signed a Memorandum of Understanding to usher in a new era of deeper economic partnership.

Finland and the State of Washington will work together on applications of connectivity and other technologies for sustainable growth, such as smart port technologies.

“Washington and Finland share growing economic ties, a rich cultural heritage, and a commitment to the values of free, open, democratic societies. Deepening the long-standing relationship between Finns and Washingtonians better prepares both our peoples for the task of overcoming the global challenges of the 21st century we will face together”, Lt. Finland looks forward to increasing cooperation with Washington state on matters of business, innovation, and research. During their visit, members of the Finnish delegation, led by Minister Harakka, meet with representatives of the Port of Seattle, University of Washington, and companies like Amazon and Microsoft.
