FIFA World Cup 2026 – Information for Travelers to the United States
The FIFA World Cup will take place in the United States from June 11 to July 19, 2026. The Embassy of Finland in Washington, D.C. has compiled guidelines and tips to help Finnish travelers during the tournament. Please note that local U.S. authorities are responsible for entry procedures and security.
Before Your Trip

If You Lose Your Passport
- If your passport is lost, report it as a theft or loss to the nearest police station as soon as possible. You will receive a police report, which you will need when applying for a new passport and for possible insurance claims.
- You can also file an electronic report with the Finnish police.
- A fast-track passport or temporary passport can be applied for at the embassy or consulates general on weekdays by appointment. Book an appointment through the booking system online.
If You Are a Victim of Crime
- Always report the incident to the local police and request a police report.
In Case of Illness
- In an emergency, call 911.
- Always take out sufficiently comprehensive and long-term travel insurance. Check in advance which clinics and hospitals your insurance company recommends at your destination. In case of illness, contact your insurance provider’s claims service.
- Remember to carry your insurance card with you.
In a Crisis Situation
