Consulate General of Finland in New York and Northwell Health Sign MoU to Accelerate Global Healthcare Innovation
Northwell Health, the largest healthcare provider in New York State, and the Consulate General of Finland in New York have signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to expand international cooperation and accelerate healthcare innovation.
The agreement links Finland’s globally recognized health innovation ecosystem with Northwell’s extensive clinical network to support technology development, pilot collaborations, and clinical validation within one of the largest healthcare systems in the United States.
A New Bridge Between Two Leading Health Innovation Hubs
Under the MoU, Finnish companies will have opportunities to collaborate with Northwell Health’s clinicians, researchers, and innovation teams. The collaboration aims to fast‑track technologies that enhance patient care, improve operational efficiency, and strengthen clinical decision‑making through real‑world testing environments.
Finland brings internationally recognized strengths to the partnership, including advanced digital health infrastructure, a robust research ecosystem, national health data assets, and world-class expertise in AI, diagnostics innovation, and data‑driven healthcare.
The agreement was signed during a Finnish health innovation delegation visit to New York, which brought together leading companies, innovation organizations, and healthcare stakeholders to explore U.S. collaboration opportunities.
“We value this growing relationship with Finland and the opportunity to connect with innovators who are developing thoughtful, high impact solutions. Our goal is always to find the best ideas for our patients, and we believe this collaboration can help uncover new possibilities,” said Elaine Brennan, Executive Director of Global Strategic Partnerships at Northwell Health.
“Finland is a frontrunner in the digital and technological transformation of healthcare and has built a globally recognized innovation ecosystem. Partnerships with leading health systems such as Northwell Health are critical for bringing new technologies into real-world clinical environments,” Consul General of Finland in New York, Ambassador Jarmo Sareva, stated.
