Vacancy announcement: Part-Time Clerical Assistant / Receptionist.

The Embassy of Finland in Maputo represents Finland in Mozambique, Eswatini and Madagascar.
The Embassy team consists of Finnish and Mozambican staff members, working in the sectors of political and economic relations, development cooperation, citizens’ services, and country promotion.

The Embassy is now hiring a Part-Time Clerical Assistant / Receptionist, with a contract starting on 2 May 2024, or as agreed. The contract will be signed for one year. The working hours in this position will be from 7:30 am to 12:30 pm from Monday to Friday. The total working time is 25 hours per week.

The principal duties of the Clerical Assistant / Receptionist are:

  • Front desk Receptionist (switch board, visitors) of the Embassy

  • Assistance in consular matters, external communications as well as financial administration

  • Assistance with translations (Portuguese/English) and in the preparation of official communications of the Embassy

  • Various clerical duties

  • Other duties requested by the Head of Mission

Key skills and qualifications of the position are:

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Previous relevant working experience of at least 3 years

  • Excellent written and oral command of Portuguese; very good written and oral command of English

  • Excellent computer skills; social media skills

  • Ability to combine attention for detail with efficiency

  • Self-initiative and flexibility

  • Strong communication and team player skills

The terms and conditions of the employment contract are based on the terms of employment for locally hired employees, and the Mozambican legislation. The contract will be signed with the Embassy of Finland in Maputo. A security clearance will be conducted on the proposed candidate, with the consent of the applicant and at the applicant’s own cost.
