A representative of the Russian embassy came today to the Ministry for Foreign Affairs to deliver a clarification on the airspace violation which took place on 22 April. According to Russia, the deviation from the flight route was of technical nature due to a misunderstanding between the terms Gogla, a turning point in an international flight route, and the designated turning point of the aircraft, Gogland, an island in the Gulf of Finland.
The Russian party apologised for the airspace violation and emphasised its unintentional and technical nature.

Finland considers the incident concluded.
