Finland extends the possibility of applying a visa for family members and relatives as of June 7, 2021.

The Border Guard will extend the definition of relatives and family members entitling to necessary travel as of June 7, 2021. This is the Border Guard's detailed policy on the Government's decision to extend the entry restrictions until 27 June.

According to the new definition, in addition to the former persons belonging to Exemption Group 2 (Compulsory Family Relations), the following persons may submit a visa application:

  • Family member of a Finnish citizen and permanent resident permit holder: spouse, under aged child, parent, in-law and grandparent.
  • Visa applications may also be submitted by members of the above family (spouse and under aged children) if they are traveling with a relative mentioned in the definition.
