VACANCY: PROFESSIONAL CHEF - THE RESIDENCE OF FINLAND
The Embassy of Finland in Pristina is looking for a professional chef for a part time work (50 hours per month) in the residence of the Ambassador of Finland. The post of locally employed chef will be available at the Embassy of Finland in Pristina on a one-year contract with a possibility of an extension.
The Embassy of Finland hosts multiple events both at the Ambassador’s residence and other venues in Pristina. To be successful in the position you should have a degree from a culinary institute and/or work experience in the culinary field, service-minded attitude, good communication and social skills. In addition to this, creativity is needed to present Finnish food and culinary culture in Kosovo.
The main duties and responsibilities
- Planning the menu and food preparation for receptions, (breakfast, lunch and dinners) and purchasing the needed groceries
- Ensuring that all food is of excellent quality and served in a timely manner
- Overseeing all kitchen operations, including cleaning tasks after events
- Waitering for small events
- Enforcing safety and sanitation standards in the kitchen
- Creating new recipes to keep the menu fresh
- Receiving feedback and making improvements where necessary
- To be part of the embassy's team in comprehensively representing Finland
- Other duties and tasks assigned by the Head of Mission
The qualification and experience
The successful candidate should have:
- Available to work flexible hours and under pressure
- Extensive knowledge on preparing foods for different kind of occasions from small dinner parties to large scale receptions
- Passionate in culinary creativity and quality cuisine
- Degree from a culinary institute and/or work experience in the culinary field
- Good language skills in English and Albanian
- Perfectionism in sanitation and quality control
- Expert multitasking ability
- Ability to lead a kitchen as well as serving staff
- Driving license
- Polite customer service skills
- Knowledge of Finnish or Scandinavian culinary traditions will be considered as an asset
The selected candidate will be required to complete a Criminal Records Review check-in and/or security clearance as required by Finnish law. Locally recruited staff are subject to Terms and Conditions of Service according to the local employment law.
