Finnish baby box has inspired over 60 countries – The Finnish Embassy and Finnish institute invited specialists from Wales, Scotland and Finland to share experience on social innovations
For the past 80 years, all Finnish parents have been provided a box by the state. It is a starter kit with necessities ranging from clothes to toys to help care for their newborn. Today Finland has one of the lowest infant mortality rates in the world, in part thanks to this maternity package.

The podcast features top-level climate experts from Finland and the UK. The podcast kicks off an important year in global climate talks, with the Glasgow Climate Change Conference COP26 expected to produce significant national climate commitments in November 2021.

Finnish Embassy’s education webinar delved into the future of education
Finnish education is world famous with Finland continuously claiming top spot in international comparisons. How did the transition to distance learning succeed in Finland and what have we learned from schools being forced into remote learning due to COVID-19 pandemic? The Finnish Embassies in London and Dublin brought together different perspectives from Finland, the UK and Ireland to discuss lessons learnt and digital education models for the future. The event was organised in collaboration with Business Finland, Education Finland and the Finnish Institute in the UK and Ireland.

Passenger flight suspension from the UK to Finland will end on 25th January
In accordance with Terveyden ja hyvinvoinnin laitos THL's recommendation, Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland recommends to avoid all travel to the UK to avoid the spread of the new COVID-19 variant to Finland. Passengers arriving from the UK to Finland should follow the health security instructions from the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare. Direct passenger flights from the UK, Ireland and South Africa continue to be suspended
The Finnish Transport and Communications Agency Traficom has decided that the suspension of direct passenger flights from the UK, Ireland and South Africa to Finland be continued until 25 January 2021. Due to the decision, many travellers find that returning to Finland is even more difficult than before or may be prevented altogether.

Suspension of passenger flights from the UK extended
The Finnish Transport and Communications Agency Traficom has decided to continue to suspend passenger flights from the UK to Finland until 18 January 2021. Direct passenger flights from Ireland and South Africa to Finland will also be suspended from 11 to 18 January 2021. Due to the decision, many travellers find that returning to Finland is even more difficult than before or may be prevented altogether.

Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare: Coronavirus test recommended for travelers arriving from the UK on or after 7 December, regardless of whether they have symptoms or not
Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) recommends that people travelling to Finland from the UK on or after 7 December 2020 should have themselves tested for the coronavirus even if they do not show symptoms of the disease. The aim of the testing is to ensure that a new strain of the virus does not spread in Finland through people who are infected but may be asymptomatic.
