Passenger flight suspension from the UK to Finland will end on 25th January

In accordance with Terveyden ja hyvinvoinnin laitos THL's recommendation, Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland recommends to avoid all travel to the UK to avoid the spread of the new COVID-19 variant to Finland. Passengers arriving from the UK to Finland should follow the health security instructions from the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare. You can get the most up-to-date information regarding your flight connection from your own flight operator.

In accordance with an opinion issued by the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL), Finnish Transport and Communications Agency Traficom has  decided to extend the passenger flight suspension period until 25 January 2021.

Travel restrictions

Traficom (Finnish Transport and Communications Agency) has decided suspend passenger flights from the UK to Finland until 25.1.2021. Please always check the most up to date information on flights from your airline. The Embassy will follow updates on possible alternative routes and endeavors to share information on these. Travelers should principally look for alternative routes themselves.

Some countries may accept travel and transit from the UK to other countries. Please always the check the entry requirements (eg. the requirements for COVID-19 test certificate, incl. transit) with the authorities of your destination country and your airline. Some pharmacies in the UK might offer COVID-19 test services for travelling. Please always check the requirements for your COVID-19 test certificate with your airline.

Please note that from  18th January, all travellers to England and Scotland are required to prove negative COVID-19 test result taken no longer that 72hrs before travel. More information form  GOV.UK(Link to another website.) (Link to another website.)-website.

As from 4am on Monday 18 January, all travellers arriving in the UK are required to self-isolate for 10 days, even if they have tested Covid-19 negative, the UK government announced on Friday. https://www.gov.uk/coronavirus(Link to another website.)

Accommodation

If you have a travel insurance, please contact your insurance company for any cost claims (e.g. hotel costs). During national lockdown some hotels may be open for emergency situations such as this.

The Finnish Church in London (phone +44 (0)7976 521 105) ) may also be able to helps stranded Finns. The church has capacity to provide emergency accommodation, although the current coronavirus restrictions limit their capability.

In case of illness

If you are and ill and have a travel insurance, please contact your insurance company for any healthcare cost claims.

In emergencies, EU citizens can get still healthcare in the UK with their European Health Insurance cards (EHIC).
