Book of Condolences for President Ahtisaari

Former President of Finland and Nobel Peace Laureate Martti Ahtisaari passed away on Monday, 16 October 2023.

President Ahtisaari served as President of the Republic of Finland for six years, from 1994 to 2000. He was Finland's tenth President. Before his presidency, he held several significant positions in the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland and in the United Nations. After his presidency, he founded CMI - Martti Ahtisaari Peace Foundation and worked actively as a peace mediator. President Ahtisaari's lifetime achievement as a peacemaker was rewarded with the Nobel Peace Prize in 2008.

A book of condolences will be open to pay last respects to President Ahtisaari at the Finnish Ambassador's residence (14 Kensington Palace Gardens, London, W8 4QP) on Wednesday 18 October and Thursday 19 October, between 10.00 am-12.00 pm.
