The Embassy of Finland in London has granted Stemettes a Hän Honours diploma to express gratitude for their work to advance equality

The Embassy of Finland in London has awarded a special recognition, the Hän Honour, to Stemettes to recognise their work in inspiring and supporting girls, young women and non-binary young people into Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths careers (known collectively as STEAM). Ambassador Jukka Siukosaari handed over the Hän Diploma to Stemettes in a ceremony during the Ambassador's reception for Young Professionals and Students in London on 25 April 2025.

Finland places great significance on promoting equality in the world, and wishes to thank those who are working towards this common goal. The Hän Honours diploma expresses gratitude and encouragement while focusing attention on those working towards a more equal world.

The word ‘hän’ has been chosen as a symbol of Finland’s core value, equality. ‘Hän’ is the sole personal pronoun in the Finnish language. It is neutral in terms of gender and social status and stands for equal opportunity.

In 2025, the Embassy of Finland in London has decided to present this honour to Stemettes. Stemettes is an award-winning social enterprise working across the UK & Ireland and beyond to inspire and support girls, young women and non-binary young people into Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths careers (known collectively as STEAM). Founded in 2012 by Dr Anne-Marie Imafidon, Stemettes combats the lack of women and non-binary people in STEM in a new way. So far, more than 70,000 young people have attended events, workshops and Stemettes experiences across UK and Ireland.

Stemettes Futures trustees Selina Pavan and Ghislaine Boddington received the diploma on behalf of the organisation. Congratulations Stemettes!
