The Embassy of Finland in London is seeking a Regional Head for Trade Promotion
The Regional Head for Trade Promotion leads the commercial activities of the Embassy of Finland in London in support of the Heads of Mission (Ambassadors). The team’s objective is to enhance business opportunities for Finnish companies in the United Kingdom and Ireland and to promote Finland’s position and reputation as a competitive business environment. The Regional Head is responsible for developing commercial relations between Finland and the United Kingdom, as well as between Finland and Ireland, and for coordinating and developing the Ministry for Foreign Affairs’ business services in the UK and Ireland. The role also involves, where necessary, cooperation with Team Finland experts at other Finnish missions in Western Europe.
As Regional Head, you will support companies and be responsible for the planning, target setting, reporting and operational delivery of trade promotion activities in support of the Heads of Mission, working closely with the team, the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, Business Finland and local partners. You will serve as a key liaison between Finland, the United Kingdom and Ireland, building and maintaining influential networks across the public sector, business community and other stakeholder groups. You will also coordinate collaboration among various actors, ensure effective information flow and advance shared objectives. In addition, you will monitor market and business environment developments, identify growth opportunities for Finnish companies, and provide analytical insights on market entry, the competitive landscape and economic prospects.
The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in export promotion, investment attraction and results-oriented work. Previous leadership experience is considered an advantage. We expect applicants to hold a relevant university degree, possess strong knowledge of the Finnish business sector, particularly within the priority areas of the Team Finland strategy, and demonstrate a sound understanding of the UK and Irish markets and global value chains.
We are looking for a proactive individual with the ability to lead and develop the team’s activities in a goal-oriented manner in support of the Ambassadors. We value strong collaboration and networking skills, the ability to identify priorities across a broad portfolio of responsibilities, and the capacity to advance multiple projects simultaneously. You should be an effective and persuasive communicator in English, comfortable operating in an international environment, and have a solid understanding of both public- and private-sector operating models. Knowledge of Finnish language is an asset.

The employment relationship will be governed by the terms and conditions applicable to locally engaged staff, and the employment contract will be subject to UK employment law. Please note that applicants must already hold a valid right to work in the United Kingdom at the time of application.
The position is offered on a fixed-term basis for two years starting on 1 November 2026 (or as otherwise agreed), with a four-month probationary period.
