Job Opportunity - Public Diplomacy Specialist

We are recruiting a Public Diplomacy Specialist to boost Finland’s visibility and connections in Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific. We offer diverse, challenging and exciting duties in a pleasant and at times high-paced environment with low levels of hierarchy. The successful candidate will be a self-starter with dynamic attitude and excellent grasp of the media and social media landscape in the region. The ideal start date would be 1 October 2025, and the position will at first be made for a fixed term until 31 May 2027.

Your main duties:

  • Supporting the Ambassador and Embassy team in public relations communications

  • Develop the Embassy’s social media presence and work on updating other external communication platforms by curating digital content to promote Finland’s interests and visibility

  • Maintain and grow media contacts, and organise media visits to Finland

  • Liaise with Finnish companies, Team Finland and other partners to align business and country branding communications

  • Create and distribute promotional material for Finland’s country brand building

  • Plan, coordinate and assist with the Embassy events and projects

  • Act as the first contact point for inquiries about Finland

     

 You will:

  • Hold appropriate tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience

  • Have excellent verbal and written communications skills, and attention to detail

  • Have demonstrated track record on social media and other communication platforms  

  • Have a good knowledge of the media landscape in Australia, preferably also familiarity of other countries in the Embassy’s jurisdiction

  • Be a full-fledged team player who gets things done

  • Have strong social skills

  • Be a native level English speaker. Finnish and/or Swedish language is an asset, but not a requirement.
