【Exhibition】Finnish Lifestyle. Design Illuminates Everyday Life.

This exhibition features master designers such as Alvar Aalto, Ilmari Tapiovaara, and Kaj Franck, as well as Oiva Toikka, Fujiwo Ishimoto, and other recent designers. A total of 750 pieces of furniture, ceramics, glass, tableware, and textiles that reflect Finnish design will be introduced.

Surrounded by lakes and forests, and Finnish designers have been emphasizing harmony with nature since the beginning of the 20th century. This was even before the concept of symbiosis between humans and nature became widely recognized.They aim to improve people's lives by incorporating light and flexibility in their designs to adapt to different weather conditions.

This exhibition features master designers such as Alvar Aalto (1898-1976), Aino Aalto (1894-1949), Ilmari Tapiovaara (1914-1999), and Kaj Franck (1911-1989), as well as Oiva Toikka (1931-2019), Fujiwo Ishimoto (1941-), and other recent designers. A total of 750 pieces of furniture, ceramics, glass, tableware, and textiles that reflect Finnish design will be introduced. Also on display are a variety of Finnish designs that were developed in Japan, as well as Finnish handcrafts such as hinemeli and birch work, sauna culture, and other aspects of Finnish life that have inspired outstanding designs (from Tokyo Art Beat Website(Link to another website.)).
