The services of our missions abroad are available to your company. We provide up-to-date market information, facilitate establishing contacts and help in market access issues. 

The services provided by the missions are part of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs’ business services. The Ministry for Foreign Affairs is a member of Team Finland, a network of public sector actors providing internationalisation services to Finnish companies.

The Team Finland network promotes Finland and its interests abroad: the internationalisation of Finnish enterprises, investments in Finland, and the country brand. The core of the network consists of the publicly funded organisations operating in these fields, such as the ministries, Finland’s network of diplomatic missions, Business Finland, national culture and science institutes, Finnvera, Finnfund, and the regional internationalisation services, built upon the ELY Centres.

The Team Finland operating model brings together the key actors and services in these fields and offers expertise to a mature Asian market that is a pioneer in several ways - as a consumer market and generator of innovations. Embassy of Finland in Tokyo promotes bilateral relations between Finland and Japan and guards Finland’s political and economic interests in Japan. Embassy is one of the key actors in carrying out Finland’s public diplomacy activities and making Finland better known in the world. The Ambassador leads Team Finland activities in Japan.

The Finnish Institute in Japan

The Finnish Institute in Japan is a cultural and academic institute that promotes co-operation between Finland and Japan in research, higher education and culture. Finnish Chamber of Commerce in Japan (FCCJ)

The FCCJ promotes trade and economic exchange between Japan and Finland and is approved by the Ministry of Trade and Industry in Japan. The main part of membership corps consists of Finnish companies established in Japan and Japanese companies having or aiming at business operations in Finland.

Objectives of the Team Finland network in Japan

The common goal of Team Finland in Japan is to facilitate trade and business, attract Japanese investment to Finland while reinforcing and utilizing academic, scientific and technological co-operation between the two nations. Focal points include energy, health, environmental and creative sectors.

Team Finland works to further enhance the image of Finland especially among correspondents and influencers in fields of economy, welfare state, science and culture. Team Finland’s mutual public diplomacy program has clear targets that are being supported by positive image of Finland that has developed during the past decades. Information about Finland is being spread through several mediums, some of which are the popular website of the embassy, Facebook and Twitter as well as events, brochures and publications.

Finnish honorary consulates

Honorary consulates complement Finland’s network of missions abroad, which consists of embassies, consulates general, consulates and liaison offices. Honorary consuls are private individuals who carry out consular functions on a part-time basis without remuneration. An honorary consul can advise Finnish companies on how to get information on local business culture and find business partners, among other matters.
