One of the highest leaders of China Wu Guanzheng to visit Finland

One of the highest leaders of China, Wu Guanzheng, who is a member of the Politburo Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China, and head of the party’s anti-corruption body, Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, will visit Finland on 22-25 September at the invitation of Minister of Justice Johannes Koskinen, extended on behalf of the Finnish Government. Finland will be one of the stops on Wu Guanzheng’s European tour, which also includes Malta, Sweden and Belarus. The visit takes place on the initiative of the Chinese party.

During his visit Wu Guanzheng will meet Prime Minister Matti Vanhanen, Speaker of the Parliament Paavo Lipponen, Minister for Foreign Affairs Erkki Tuomioja, and Minister of Justice Leena Luhtanen. In addition, Wu Guanzheng and his delegation will get acquainted with the Finnish political parties and business world, and they will visit Northern Finland.

In the official meetings during Wu Guanzheng’s visit the discussions will focus on, for instance, bilateral relations between Finland and China, as well as judicial developments, and reforms in China. The visitors are interested in Finland’s experiences in anti-corruption activities and good governance.
