European Commission reviews relations with China, proposes 10 actions
The European Union and China have committed to a comprehensive strategic partnership. Yet, there is a growing appreciation in Europe that the balance of challenges and opportunities China presents has shifted. With today's Joint Communication, the European Commission and the High Representative aim to start a discussion to refine Europe's approach to be more realistic, assertive and multi-faceted.

Postal voting 2019: order voting documents
A possibility to vote by post will be introduced in the parliamentary elections of spring 2019. This means that eligible voters who reside abroad permanently (expatriate Finns) and eligible voters who reside in Finland but are abroad at the time of the elections may vote by post. Advance voting will be arranged at Finnish diplomatic and consular missions abroad in the same manner as before.

Finland demands explanations regarding timber smuggling from Mozambique to China
Finland and other donors call on the Government of Mozambique to respond to the allegations of the illegal sale of timber presented in a recent report. The Environmental Investigation Agency, or EIA, a non-governmental organisation specialising in environmental affairs and based in London, has just published a report on the issue.

Shanghai Radical Design Week: combining culture and business
China has within a short space of time become a very interesting market for cultural exports. The 2010 Shanghai World Expo provided a unique springboard for Finnish cultural exports to China. This autumn will see the launch of the Shanghai Radical Design Week, which is organized under the World Design Capital Helsinki 2012 framework.
