Nordic embassies promote healthy lifestyle in the first ever zero-waste Nordic Run

The four Nordic embassies accredited to Thailand; namely Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden are organizing a first Nordic Run in Benjakitti Park in the coming Sunday October 29th at 6.30 am.

The event will gather 600 runners in promoting healthy Nordic lifestyle, and showcasing Nordic companies offering solutions for a balanced and happy life. The event is organized in collaboration with the Bangkok Metropolitan Authority.

“We Nordics love nature and are always surrounded by it. Walking, running and skiing in our forests, fields and mountains and sailing in our lakes and oceans is a way of life for us. Hence, we wanted to bring a piece of that to the most beautiful Park in Thailand and invite people out to move and take care of their health,” says ambassador of Finland, H.E. Jyri Järviaho.

The Nordic countries have the world’s most ambitious carbon emission reduction targets and have placed combatting climate change in the heart of their foreign policies.

“As nature is important for us, we wanted to make this a zero-waste event where we have thought about the environment at every step of the planning. We believe that climate change is the biggest challenge our world faces and we want to care of the beautiful nature of Thailand,” adds ambassador of Sweden, H.E. Anna Hammargren.

“We also want to promote a holistic approach to city development and healthcare for the well-being of its citizens and reduce environmental impacts by encouraging active transportation and adaptable urban planning. It’s important to build cities that encourage people to walk, run and enjoy the outdoors,” continues ambassador of Denmark, H.E. Jon Thorgaard.

The event consist of a 5 and 10 kilometer running and walking courses and is free to all participants, but requires a pre-registration that is already fully booked.

“The public registration filled up immediately, so we know there is a definitely a high demand for such an event,” ends ambassador of Norway, H.E. Astrid Emilie Helle.
