February 11, 2025, marks the 10th International Day of Women and Girls in Science, proclaimed by the United Nations to recognize and highlight the fundamental role of women in the scientific and technological community. The Team Finland Knowledge (TFK) network of the Ministry of Education and Culture of Finland and the Consulate of Finland in São Paulo, in collaboration with UniPID network, will celebrate the day by organizing a webinar to initiate and promote dialogue between Finland and Latin America on fostering equality in science.

Despite cultural, societal and contextual differences, women tend to face similar obstacles in academia worldwide. This event will focus on the situation and progress of women in academic careers, addressing structural challenges and discussing policies implemented in Brazil, Chile, and Finland. The aim is to shed new light on the problems of inequality in science and explore common solutions for addressing them. Equality in science is not only essential to improve the quality and impact of scientific knowledge but also to empower women and girls globally.
