Football isn’t the only sport to hold a world cup in 2010. At the other end of the earth from South Africa, in the Finnish capital, more international sports drama plays out as the Finns defend their title at the World Floorball Championship.

The Ministry for Foreigh Affairs has invited 19 recently graduated journalists or journalism students about to graduate to The Foreign Correspondents' Programme (FCP), a media and training programme organised by the Ministry.

Seven Honorary Consuls along with their spouses are visiting Finland on 26 - 30 July. The visit is hosted by Finland’s Ambassador to Australia Glen Lindholm, Consul Pirjo Leino from Sydney, as well as the Unit for Asia and Oceania of the Finnish Ministry for Foreign Affairs. The main theme of the visit is promotion of bilateral trade.

The knowledge and skills of Finnish students in science, mathematics and reading are of the highest order. In science and mathematics they are rated best in the OECD countries and in reading the second best. The main focus in PISA 2006 was science literacy.
