Nordic Embassies Promote Healthy, Sustainable Lifestyles in the Third Annual Nordic Walk & Run
The four Nordic embassies accredited to Thailand—namely Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden—are organizing the third annual Nordic Walk & Run at Benjakitti Park this upcoming Saturday, November 15, at 6:30 a.m.
The event will once again gather around 500 runners and walkers to promote a healthy and sustainable Nordic lifestyle for all, and showcase Nordic companies offering solutions for a balanced, green, and happy life. The event is organized in collaboration with the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration.
“We Nordics love nature and are always surrounded by it. Walking, running and skiing in our forests, fields and mountains and sailing in our lakes and oceans is a way of life for us. Therefore, we wanted to bring a piece of that to the most beautiful park in Thailand and invite people out to move and take care of their health,” says the Ambassador of Finland, H.E. Kristiina Kuvaja.
The Nordic countries have the world’s most ambitious carbon emission reduction targets, and have placed combatting climate change at the heart of their foreign policies.
“As nature is important for us, we wanted to make this a sustainable event where we have thought about the environment at every step of the planning. We believe that climate change is the biggest challenge our world faces and we want to take care of the beautiful nature of Thailand,” adds the Ambassador of Sweden, H.E. Anna Hammargren.
“We also want to promote a holistic approach to city development and healthcare for the well-being of its citizens and reduce environmental impacts by encouraging active transportation and adaptable urban planning. It’s important to build cities that encourage people to walk, run, and enjoy the outdoors,” continues the Ambassador of Denmark, H.E. Danny Annan.
The event consists of either a 4.5 or 9 kilometer running and walking course and is free to all participants, but it requires pre-registration, which is already fully booked. The event is organized in a sustainable, plastic-free manner.
“The public registration filled up immediately again this year, so we are very pleased to note that there is a high demand for such an event,” ends the Ambassador of Norway, H.E. Astrid Emilie Helle.
The event is kindly made possible by the generous sponsorship of AstraZeneca, Atlas Copco Group, Ecco, Finnair, KONE, LINAK, Novo Nordisk, Pandora, PYN Elite, SAAB, Tetra Pak, Valmet and Yara.
