New Ambassadors to Beirut, Nairobi and Oslo
At the presidential session on Friday 4 May, the President of the Republic decided to appoint the following Ambassadors: Tarja Fernández to Beirut, Erik Lundberg to Nairobi and Mikael Antell to Oslo. They will assume their new functions on 1 September 2018.

Finland Supports Female Peacekeepers Training Course
The eight United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women) Female Officers Training Course recently came to a close in Nairobi. The course, with significant support from Finland, brought 40 female officers from 31 different countries to Kenya for the second time

Finland 100 photo exhibition `MOMENTS in The Building of a Nation´
The photo exhibition `MOMENTS in The Building of a Nation´ was opened on Tuesday 31.10.2017 by the Ambassador of Finland, Ms. Tarja Fernández, at the United Nations Office at Nairobi. The exhibition is part of the celebratory programme for the centenary of Finland’s independence in 2017.

Embassy supports the establishment of local democracy in Somalia
The Embassy of Finland participated in the launch of the local government law for southeastern Somalia in Baido on 11 July. The function marked the beginning of the building of local government in three of the region's counties. The project is being implemented by Finn Church Aid and their local partners, with the support of the EU and Finland

Government of Finland grants UNFPA Somalia 2 million Euros
The Government of Finland and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Somalia today signed an agreement under which the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland has provided a grant of two million Euro in support of UNFPA’s overall goal of improving the wellbeing of Somali people, particularly women, girls and young people.

Fraud found at Kakuma Refugee Camp in Kenya
Fraud and other misconduct related to assistance of refugees have been found at Kakuma Refugee Camp in Kenya. Finland has been informed about the matter by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). UNHCR is responsible for coordinating the assistance of different UN agencies and other organisations at Kakuma Refugee Camp.
