Two Odysseys: Pimooteewin / Gállábártnit

Music drama works sung and narrated in the Indigenous languages Cree and Sámi, rooted in their legends. Heli Huovinen, a multitalented Finnish Sámi actress, journalist, artist, educator, will be one of the narrators.

Two Odysseys: Pimooteewin / Gállábártnit creative team and cast include Canadian Plains Cree actor Michael Greyeyes, librettist Thomson Highway(Link to another website.), a Manitoba-born playwright, novelist and musician, who speaks Cree and Dene.  Music is composed by Britta Nyström(Link to another website.) from Sweden and Melissa Hui(Link to another website.) from Canada.  A truly international ensemble explores the Cree and Sámi legends, taking a voyage to unknown and familiar territories.

The work is presented by Soundstreams, one of the world’s leading contemporary music companies, and the largest global presenter of new Canadian music with a focus on innovative and experiental programming.
