Canada and Finland are long-standing advocates of human rights, especially women’s rights.  With research and academia playing an important role in fostering women and girls’ education and economic empowerment, this webinar aims to highlight key achievements to date, along with challenges and opportunities for collaboration to advance women’s and girls’ rights and women’s economic empowerment, particularly in the wake of the pandemic. 

The President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ottawa, Mr. Jacques Frémont, and Ambassador of Finland in Canada, Roy Eriksson, invite you to a panel discussion(Link to another website.) entitled “Advancing Women’s and Girls’ Rights: Harnessing Technology and Innovation in Support of the Economic Empowerment of Women in the Wake of the Pandemic.”  The panelists include Canada´s Minister of International Development Karina Gould, Finnish Minister for Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade Ville Skinnari, Executive Director of UN Women Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, Professor Barbara Orser from University of Ottawa and Coordinator Milja Köpsi from Mimmitkoodaa (Women code) organization from Finland.
