Aurora, the story of a party girl and heavy drinker stumbling aimlessly through life, has been praised by critics in Finland and abroad.  It scooped a total of seven Finnish national film awards, including Best Film, Best Director, Best Lead and Supporting Actors, Best Script and Costume Design.

Director Miia Tervo’s first feature film is a fresh take on a romantic comedy, filmed in Rovaniemi, Lapland.  One night after another night of partying, Aurora meets Iranian Darian at a hot-dog stand. Darian needs to marry a Finnish woman to get asylum for himself and his daughter. Aurora turns him down, as she has plans to move to Norway to make some serious money working there. However, for a fee, she will help him find a wife, even if her matchmaking skills leave a lot to be desired.

Variety: “An enjoyable dramedy from Finnish Lapland that uses location and characters to add something fresh to familiar romantic comedy beats.”  (Full review(Link to another website.))
