Shitbox Rally: Happiest Car in the World
Ambassador Arto Haapea and his partner/ co driver Steven Morton are set to take on the famous Shitbox Rally this June. In our blue Toyota Camry, soon to be dubbed Happiest Car in the World, the pair will set out from Perth on an expedition to reach Darwin. Picture this: cars with more rust than horsepower, more duct tape than dignity and heavy metal music blasting from the speakers (if they work). It’s a rally that celebrates all the things your insurance company hopes you’ll never do – and we want you to be a part of it.
Why? To support a worthy cause.
All proceeds from the challenge are donated directly to the Australian Cancer Council. Over the last 15 years, Box Rallies have raised over $50 million to support cancer research. Being a cancer survivor himself, this is a cause close to Arto's heart.
It should also be fun. As Finns, rallying is in our DNA. Whether out on track or the outback, we bring the spirit of SISU to every challenge with the kind of resilience only a Finnish winter can produce – and the audacity of a sauna-loving nation. During the rally, we aim to share the quirkier side of Finland with the parts of Australia that we would never ordinarily reach. With some luck, and hopefully the help of some fellow Finns (we are looking at you Valtteri Bottas), we will make some new friends along the way and build on Finland’s country image.

To make this adventure a success, we are relying on the generous support of the Finnish community, companies, Honorary Consuls and all other friends of Finland to raise money and meet our fundraising goals. We are looking for donations directly to the Cancer Council via our donation page. Whatever you can spare – only the sky is the limit and no donation is too small.
