This will be the third world premiere Klaus Härö(Link to another website.) presents in Toronto.  Mother of Mine (Äideistä parhain), 2005 and One Last Deal (Tuntematon mestari), 2018 both premiered at TIFF.

My Sailor, My Love(Link to another website.) is a deft exploration of generational family dynamics.  A retired sea captain, Howard, is widowed and living on his own.  His daughter Grace decides he needs help and arranges for a housekeeper.  This does not sit well with Howard but Annie the helper is well able for him.  They grow closer but Grace cannot accept the relationship.  She wants to have her father back, in a way longing for something that never existed, as Howard had been constantly absent from her life.

According to Klaus Härö we are used to seeing stories of first love in the movies but he was interested in now exploring what the last love can be like.

My Sailor, My Love has been filmed in Ireland with a mostly Irish cast.
