Mika Kaurimäki(Link to another website.) is the younger brother of Aki Kaurismäki, just to get this out of the way.  In their early careers their films helped win international audiences for Finnish films and paved the way for another generation of Finnish directors to do the same.

Master Cheng is an understated exploration of cultural differences and when mixed with the very social act of preparing and eating food, also how alike we as humans basically are.  The main character, professional chef from China, is on a quest to find an old friend in Finnish Lapland armed only with a few words of English and his culinary skills.  The remote village in Lapland will take its time to come to terms with the outsider and his young son, but he eventually wins them over just by being himself and cooking for them goes a long way in helping the process.
