Canberra, Australia, 24.09.17 – On the weekend of the 23rd – 24th September 2017, the Embassy of Finland in Canberra celebrated 100 years of Finnish independence with a huge festival attracting 3500 people from the Australian and Finnish community – the Finland Centenary Crazy Games and Embassy Open Weekend, inclusive of the Air Guitar Contest on Saturday evening.

Canberra, Australia – 21.09.17 – The Embassy of Finland announces the judges, prizes, competitors and program highlights for the Air Guitar Contest at the Embassy on Saturday 23 September in Canberra. The inaugural festival, the Finnish Crazy Games and Embassy Open Weekend (23 – 24 September 2017). The Air Guitar Contest is a special evening event on the Saturday in partnership with the Air Guitar World Championships in Oulu and Air Guitar Australia.

The life of a travelling judge (the competitive dog show kind)
Simply put, the world is divided into two types of people: dog people and cat people. For dog lovers, the majority treat their beloved animals as companions. A select few start competing, participating in dog shows, and perhaps they even enter the dog breeding world. It's a whole different realm and involves a surprising amount of intercountry collaboration as Finnish judges Harri Lehkonen and Paula Heikkinen-Lehkonen know all too well.

The Embassy of Finland is an accredited Actsmart business
The Embassy of Finland in Canberra is now an accredited Actsmart business. The Actsmart Business Recycling Program aims to have businesses actively recycling and environmentally responsible to reduce the corporate impact on the environment. In the past six months, the Embassy of Finland has succeeded in cutting down on waste to landfill by 33% (half a tonne), which is the equivalent of half a tonne less of CO2 emissions every year.
