Well that transformed life in Kenyan village
Five years ago, the village of Runana gained access to running water with Finland's support – a lot of things have changed since then. Earlier, the people in the village had to fetch their drinking and household water from kilometres away. Today, they can buy water from water kiosks situated in various parts of the village.

Slum scenes and innovations - theme year ambassadors in Kenya
Diandra and Hossni Boudali, Finnish ambassadors of the European Year for Development, travelled to Kenya in early March to learn more about development cooperation. The places visited ranged from a modern innovation centre to the pulsating Dandora slum located on the edge of a landfill.

Information on climate change spreads in Eastern Africa’s mountainous areas
A project conducted in Eastern Africa with financing from Finland has increased knowledge on climate change among both researchers and the local people. The climate change project, begun in 2011, receives 4.9 million euros in support from Finland. Its achievements to date were presented at a seminar held at the University of Helsinki at the end of September.

Minister Hautala in Kenya: building a bridge between humanitarian aid and development assistance important
“Development begins from an individual and in this process we can be of assistance – this is the belief we hold in Finland,” Minister Heidi Hautala said when visiting the Kakuma Refugee Camp in Kenya on Sunday, 25 March.
