Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Transport and Communications Minna Kivimäki has been nominated a candidate for the post of Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO). There are altogether seven candidates for the post.
Fund for Local Cooperation 2022–2024
The Finnish Fund for Local Cooperation (FLC) is a fund managed by the Embassy of Finland in Nairobi. The FLC is a flexible and demand-based instrument of the Embassy that compliments the development cooperation work carried out through the support of Finland in accordance with Finland’s development policy.
Appearance of passports and identity cards to change
Passports and identity cards issued by the Finnish authorities will have a new appearance as of 13 March 2023. Minor technical adjustments will also be made to residence permit cards and residence cards. The changes will have no effect on the validity of previously issued passports, identity cards or residence permit documents.
Finnish parliamentary elections 2023 – advance voting in Kenya, Somalia and Uganda
Finland will hold its parliamentary elections on Sunday 2 April 2023. Advance voting will be possible in Kenya from 22nd to 25rd of March, in Somalia 22nd of March and in Uganda 23nd of March 2023. The Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland is responsible for organising advance voting abroad.
Kenya avoided post-election violence and is now facing new beginnings
According to Ambassador of Finland to Nairobi Pirkka Tapiola, Kenya is leading the way for economic and regional development in Eastern Africa. Kenya is now on the brink of new beginnings after presidential elections that were exceptionally peaceful.
