Invented in Helsinki and celebrating its first anniversary on May 19, 2012, Restaurant Day allows anyone to set up their own café, resto or bar for one day. It has quickly spread to other cities and become a Finnish tradition, also gaining popularity abroad.

Track opened for Ashton and the EU foreign policy at Saariselkä
Led by Foreign Minister Alexander Stubb, a new approach to building the EU common foreign policy was taken during the weekend. The eight foreign ministers who came to Saariselkä, Finnish Lapland, had the opportunity for once to delve into important themes without constant time pressure or unnecessary formalities. Throughout the weekend Catherine Ashton, the new EU Foreign Minister, played the key role. She received strong support from the participants.
