President Alexander Stubb visited in Brussels

President of the Republic of Finland Alexander Stubb made his first visit to Brussels on 9-10 April. The purpose of the visit was to discuss current topical issues, security and defense policy and the situation in Ukraine.

During two days the President met several EU leaders including President of the European Council Charles Michel, President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola, President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, High Representative Josep Borrell and Commissiner for International Partnerships Jutta Urpilainen. 

He also met Secretary General of NATO Jens Stoltenberg and discussed with Prime Minister of Belgium Alexander de Croo.


The President also met with the staff of Permanent Representations of Finland to EU and to Nato, as well as Finland’s Embassy in Brussels.

European security and support for Ukraine against Russia’s aggression were among the key topics discussed in the various meetings.
