31 August 2012

The Foreign Ministers of Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Iceland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania will meet in Vilnius on 3-4 September. Foreign Minister Erkki Tuomioja will attend the so called Nordic-Baltic 8 Foreign Ministers meeting.

Organised regularly since 1991, the NB8 meetings are an informal and a flexible forum for discussing shared issues. The Foreign Ministers meet annually in the coordinating country, this year in Lithuania. Finland coordinated the meeting in 2011, and Sweden will be the coordinator in 2013.

The agenda in Vilnius includes the EU Eastern Partnership, Nordic and Baltic participation in missions and operations of the UN, the EU and Nato, the situation in the Middle East and Nordic-Baltic energy cooperation.

The Foreign Ministers will also meet with the President of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaite.
