Foreign Minister Stubb: EU sanctions against Gaddafi’s Libya must be discussed
Foreign Minister Alexander Stubb considers it justified for the EU to impose sanctions against Libya. “How can we watch what is happening in Libya, where almost 300 people have been killed, and not discuss sanctions? The EU foreign policy must be consistent,” Foreign Minister Stubb said at the meeting of EU Foreign Ministers in Brussels on Monday.

Baltic Sea Action Summit in Helsinki a success
The Baltic Sea Action Summit that was held in Helsinki on Wednesday, 10 February was a success in the opinion of the arrangers. The summit attracted a large and high-level group of participants to Finlandia Hall to tell about their commitments to protect the Baltic Sea. The summit was hosted by President of the Republic Tarja Halonen, Prime Minister Matti Vanhanen and Mr Ilkka Herlin, the Chairman of the Baltic Sea Action Group, who together convened the summit.

OECD PISA 2006: excellent results for Finnish students
The knowledge and skills of Finnish students in science, mathematics and reading are of the highest order. In science and mathematics they are rated best in the OECD countries and in reading the second best. The main focus in PISA 2006 was science literacy.
