Finnish passport and identity card

When abroad, you can apply for a passport or an identity card at a Finnish mission. The application must be submitted in person.

A passport is a travel document granted to Finnish citizens. A passport is mainly granted for 5 years and it must be valid to be approved as a travel document. It must be intact and undamaged for the holder to be allowed to pass the border check. The holder’s personal information (first name and last name) must be up-to-date. Children are not included on their guardians’ passport. Passport applications must always be submitted in person.
