Responsibilities of mission

The Embassy represents Finland in Namibia. The Ambassador is nominated by the President of Finland and serves as the official representative of Finland.

Ambassador Pirkko-Liisa Kyöstilä

The main priority of the Embassy of Finland in Windhoek is to maintain and strengthen good relations between Finland and Namibia. This includes political and economic relations as well as contacts and cooperation in the fields of culture, science and research.

Embassy of Finland advances business opportunities and international cooperation of Finnish enterprises in Namibia through our Team Finland network in close cooperation with local partners. We enhance the knowledge of Finland, Finnish expertise and Finnish culture in the country. We strengthen civil society by working closely together with Namibian non-governmental organisations and civil society actors.

Communicating information about Namibia to Finnish decision-makers is central to the work we do at the Embassy. In the same vein, we also convey information to Namibian authorities and citizens about Finland as well as promote the image of Finland in Namibia.

Furthermore, one of our important tasks is to assist Finnish citizens and protect their interests by organising advance voting and providing consular services for which our Embassy is famous. Our Embassy is first and foremost a service centre, where we are happy to serve our partners, customers and each other.

You can find more information about the work we do and the services we provide on our Facebook(Link to another website.) and Twitter(Link to another website.) accounts as well as on the Embassy website. Further information about the tasks of Finnish embassies abroad can be found on the website of the Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs(Link to another website.).

A warm thank you for your interest towards Namibia and the work of our Embassy.

Kind regards,

Pirkko-Liisa Kyöstilä

Ambassador
