The Ministry for Foreign Affairs recommends exercising special caution when travelling to the EU and Schengen area The Ministry also recommends avoiding unnecessary travel to countries outside the EU and Schengen area, except for countries for which the restrictions on entry have been lifted.

Finnish wooden houses from the 1970’s and a memorial stone inaugurated by President Kekkonen in Mosfellsbær
Finnish and Icelandic pennants were raised when the Finnish Embassy marked the first day of summer (sumardagurinn fyrsti) on 22 April in the town of Mosfellsbær. In 1974, Finnish wooden houses were built for the evacuated inhabitants of the Westman Islands who became homeless after an intense volcanic eruption. Finnish aid for Iceland was commemorated with a memorial stone in 1977 during the visit of President Urho Kekkonen.
