Finland grants Dr. Shalini Goyal Bhalla a Climate Honours diploma to express gratitude for climate action
Finland is awarding Dr. Shalini Goyal Bhalla from International Council for Circular Economy with a Climate Honours diploma to recognize and thank them for their climate work. Finland’s missions around the world are granting the diplomas to organisations and individuals who lead the way in combating climate change. Using the diploma, Finland wants to encourage discussion about climate issues and call attention to international actors working for a common future.
Advance voting in India in Finland’s presidential elections in 2024
Finland will hold its presidential elections on Sunday 28 January 2024. Advance voting will be possible in India from 17 to 20 January 2024. The election day for a possible second election (second round) will be 11 February 2024, and advance voting abroad will be possible from 31 January to 3 February 2024.
Minister Tavio to visit India
Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Ville Tavio will travel to New Delhi, India, with a Finnish business delegation on 22–23 November. During his visit, Minister Tavio will meet with Indian ministers and business representatives and attend the India Nordic-Baltic Business Conclave.

EU trade ministers to discuss economic security and EU–India trade relations
Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Ville Tavio will attend an informal meeting of EU trade ministers in Valencia, Spain, on 19–20 October. The ministers will discuss economic security and trade relations between the EU and India. The ministers will also discuss the EU’s ongoing bilateral trade negotiations.
Minister of Education Henriksson to visit India on 16–20 October
Minister of Education Anna-Maja Henriksson will visit India on 16–20 October to promote the export activities of Finnish education operators and to meet Indian ministers and education authorities. The visit will focus on comprehensive level and upper secondary vocational education in the three southern states of India, which have shown a clear interest in Finland: Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu. India, which has recently become the world’s most populous country, is developing its education sector and is therefore an interesting partner for Finland.
Innovation and Family-Friendliness Attract Indian Startup Entrepreneur to Finland
Finland competes for the best startup entrepreneurs alongside other countries, and the competition for skilled professionals is intense. Indian entrepreneur Ashwin Sivakumar has recently moved to Finland with the goal of establishing a global health technology startup. Finland was chosen by Sivakumar because it is a pioneer in digital health innovations and digitally guided healthcare systems.
Foreign Ministry to survey market for application submission services for visas and residence permits
Finland’s Ministry for Foreign Affairs is planning to launch a tendering process for outsourcing its entry permit application submission services in 2024. As a preparation for the upcoming tendering process, the Ministry will survey the market in autumn 2023.
