Ambassador Lähdevirta Concludes Bangladesh Visit, Strengthening Ties
The Embassy of Finland is pleased to announce the successful completion of Ambassador Kimmo Lähdevirta's official visit to Bangladesh from May 25th to May 31st, 2024. During the visit, Ambassador Lähdevirta presented his credentials to President Mohammed Shahabuddin. Finland is committed to foster friendly and collaborative relations with the Bangladeshi government and its people.
Discussions with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina underscored potential for mutually beneficial cooperation in the fields of energy and ICT, aligning with Bangladesh's vision for technological advancement and sustainable development.
Ambassador Lähdevirta engaged in fruitful talks with Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen, paving the way for future political consultations in October aimed at further solidifying cooperation across diverse sectors.
Accompanying Ambassador Lähdevirta were his spouse, Ms. Pia Kaikonen, Counsellor Ms. Sanna Orava, and Honorary Consul General of Finland, Mr. Aziz Khan.
In addition to official meetings, Ambassador Lähdevirta took the opportunity to connect with the Finnish community in Bangladesh and to meet with Finnish companies operating within the country. These interactions underscored the importance of people-to-people ties and highlighted the valuable contributions of Finnish businesses to Bangladesh's economic development.
The Embassy extends its sincere gratitude to Mr. Aziz Khan, Honorary Consul General of Finland, for his steadfast support throughout the visit, as well as to all individuals and organizations involved in facilitating fruitful exchanges and dialogue.
Looking ahead, both countries are poised to hold the next round of political consultations in October, further solidifying the framework for cooperation and expanding the scope of engagement between Finland and Bangladesh. These consultations will serve as a platform to explore new avenues for collaboration, address shared challenges, and enhance mutual understanding.
