Open Vacancy – Development Cooperation Coordinator

Place of Assignment: The Embassy of Finland, 3 Abu El Feda Street, Zamalek, Cairo

Duration of Assignment: A fixed-term contract for a period of one year with the possibility of extension (including probation period)

Start date: from 1 September 2024 or as agreed

Main duties and responsibilities

  • The main duty of the coordinator is to assist in the management, monitoring and reporting of the local FLC-projects together with the second secretary. The Fund for Local Cooperation (FLC) is one of the Finnish development cooperation instruments that aims at supporting the civil society to participate in the development process of Egypt.
  • Preparation of the call for Funds for Local Cooperation (FLC) project proposals, processing of applications and selection of projects in cooperation with the FLC Committee.
  • Creating visibility to the projects in cooperation with the media adviser.
  • Maintaining contacts with civil society organizations.
  • Participation in the development cooperation coordination meetings with the EU, UN and other international organizations.
  • Supporting the monitoring and reporting of the mission in relation to development cooperation and the operating environment of civil society in Egypt.
  • Other tasks assigned by the Head of Mission or the Deputy Head of Mission.

Qualifications and experience

  • Master's degree in political science, development studies, economics, public administration, law or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant working experience.
  • Experience in project management.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Understanding of Finnish Development Policy priorities.
  • Knowledge of Egyptian civil society and knowledge of Arabic is considered an advantage.
  • The possibility to travel in Egypt.
