Publishing information on airspace violations

On Wednesday, 15 June, the President of the Republic and the Cabinet Committee on Foreign and Security Policy discussed government procedures for publishing established airspace violations and report by the working group considering the amendment of the Peacekeeping Act.

Established territorial violations are to be considered by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Defence and Ministry of the Interior/the Frontier Guard which will also decide on the dissemination of related information. As a rule, all clear cases of territorial violations will be published. As regards contacts with foreign authorities, the Ministry for Foreign Affairs is charged with public communications.

The working group considering the amendment of the Peacekeeping Act proposes in its report drafting of a new act on Finnish participation in military crisis management operations. A proposal for a new act on military crisis management is to be drafted in line with the report. A proposal is to be submitted to the Parliament as soon as possible.
