Arto Mansala to be appointed Secretary of State at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland


The government decided on Thursday to propose to the President of the Republic the appointment of Ambassador Arto Mansala as Secretary of State at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland with effect from 1 September. Mansala was appointed Secretary of State a.i. in April after the sudden death of his predecessor Antti Satuli.

Arto Mansala was appointed Under Secretary of State at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in October, 2002. Earlier, he served at the Ministry as Director for Russia and Eastern Europe and as Director for Western Europe and the United States. His postings abroad include Moscow, Oslo and Stockholm and between 1985-2001 he was Finland´s Ambassador to Budapest, Beijing, Moscow and Bonn/Berlin.
