Finnish Defence Forces Flag Day Marked with Reception Celebrating Finnish–Turkish Friendship

The Flag Day of the Finnish Defence Forces was celebrated on June 4 with a reception hosted by Ambassador Pirkko Hämäläinen and Defence Attaché Colonel Janne Hakaniemi. The event brought together distinguished guests, members of the diplomatic community, military representatives, and friends of Finland to commemorate an important national occasion and recognize the longstanding ties between Finland and Türkiye.

The evening opened with welcoming remarks from Ambassador Pirkko Hämäläinen, who highlighted the strong relationship between Finland and Türkiye and the importance of continued cooperation between the two countries. Commander of the Turkish Land Forces, General Metin Tokel, also addressed the guests, emphasizing the deep historical connections and growing military cooperation that have strengthened over the years.

Throughout the evening, guests enjoyed a cultural program that showcased Finnish traditions and heritage. Performances of Finnish folk dances captivated the audience, while Finnish music added a warm and festive atmosphere to the celebration.
