NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer visits Finland

NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer will visit Finland on 9 September at the invitation of Foreign Minister Erkki Tuomioja. The visit is part of the new Secretary General’s round trip to NATO member states and the Partnership for Peace Programme countries.
Secretary General de Hoop Scheffer will also meet with President Tarja Halonen, Prime Minister Matti Vanhanen, Defence Minister Seppo Kääriäinen, Deputy Speaker of the Finnish Parliament Ilkka Kanerva, who is the chairman of the Finnish delegation to the NATO's Parliamentary Assembly, and other members of the Foreign Affairs and Defence Committees of the Finnish Parliament.
